Malta salary calculator

Gross to net pay after income tax and employee social security. Tax and NI are worked out separately and shown side by side.

Annual equivalent: €30,000.00.

Tax year

This helps us choose the right income-tax rates. You can check or change the calculation before viewing your results.

Single (no qualifying children)

Using: Individual rates (eligibility subject to confirmation)

Why this applies

This is the schedule you selected, not an eligibility decision. Children generally qualify up to 18, or up to 23 in full-time education, subject to custody, maintenance and residence conditions. Married rates do not automatically combine two salaries. Non-resident and special regimes need a separate check.

Full-year, steady-pay scenario only. Disable bonus additions if your amount already includes them; add COLA only if it is not already in pay. NI uses basic pay ÷ 52 over 52 weeks. Bonus amounts and their payroll treatment require official confirmation; part-time and part-year proration are not modelled. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

How this calculator works

Income tax is charged in bands: each slice of income is taxed at its own rate, then checked against MTCA's printed "rate and subtract" figures. The top rate is never applied to all of your income.

2026 rates for single, married and parent computations come from MTCA. Verified 2027 and 2028 tables exist for families with children; other matching computations use the latest preceding verified schedule as an estimate (Budget Speech 2026, printed pp. 16 to 22; confirmed in the Diskors tal-Budget 2027, pp. 36 to 40). Social security uses the latest preceding published Class 1 schedule, currently 2026; carried-forward rates are estimates. Deductions, allowances, fringe benefits and part-time rates are not applied.
