New per-night eco-contribution rates from 1 January 2027, plus visitor charges for cruise passengers and Comino.

Common questions

Is the eco-contribution cap per booking or per person?
Per eligible person. Two adults staying ten nights in a short-let each reach the €80 cap, giving €160 in total.
Do children pay the eco-contribution?
The speech says the charge applies to people over 18. The exact wording at the 18th birthday is awaiting the legal text.
Do cruise passengers who start their trip in Malta pay €10?
No. The €10 charge applies to visitors who disembark and re-embark. Passengers beginning their cruise in Malta are excluded.
